The NX has a 2.5-litre petrol engine with an automatic (E-CVT) transmission. Lexus Self-Charging Hybrid cars have a petrol engine and an electric motor. The technology in the car seamlessly selects the best power source (petrol or electric mode) based on your driving without you having to do anything.

The hybrid system cleverly charges the electric battery while you are driving. It recovers the energy that would normally be wasted through regenerative braking; for example, when you are braking to slow down.
